About Derek Cress
Our General Manager, Derek Cress, has been a part of the JH Adams team for 10 years and counting. Prior to his role as our GM, Derek was a chef working throughout the Triad area. With his chef background and High Point native knowledge, he can give you some off-the-beaten path dining suggestions like the Dog House, Corner Grill, and Oscars Fine Foods. His favorite part of his job is the family atmosphere and the returning guests who visit our beautiful historic inn year-round. When he’s not at work, you’ll find Derek playing golf or enjoying a few movies or shows with his wife.
Favorite Room in the Inn: The Historic Mansion as a whole is very unique, and I love the architecture. The new Atrium space is a great blend of Contemporary and Modern style.

Favorite City Travelled to: Alaska when I was younger was a great trip and really enjoyed the landscapes and wildlife.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
Born and raised in the High Point. Graduated from Trinity High School and went to GTCC for Culinary Arts. Worked throughout the triad and surrounding areas in many different restaurants from Greensboro, Archdale, Jamestown & Clemmons. I have been a Chef for 21 years which is my career foundation and have stepped into the General manager position for the last 3 years.
