About Yolanda L. Grier
We all need a place to Breathe, to Imagine, to Become. Art is that place for me. I love creating because it brings joy. It is through the creative process that I found healing.
I wouldn’t have guessed that as a survivor of trauma and abuse that art would pull me from the depths of depression. But, it did! Art , heart and healing finds its way through each brush stroke and each canvas. There is creative healing in the song and dance of mark marking.
I paint in acrylics and watercolors, while creating layers of stories. Mark-making enhances the painted stories of Healing and Wholeness. My favorite mark-making tools are oil pastels, my hands, sticks, pine needles, leaves, and even the tip of the paint brush. Colors found in nature are brightly woven into my art as I have found solace in its lessons of changing and letting go while Becoming.
Becoming a Woman.
Becoming an Artist.
Becoming a Creative.Becoming Whole.
